Brief History

The invention of Basik box was completely accidental. My mother lives with diabetes and I was trying to figure out a simple way for her to carry a healthy correctly portioned meal on recreational bus trips, which she enjoys with other seniors. Sometime in late December of 2006, I started sketching ideas on scraps of paper. Convinced that this idea could become a helpful product for many people, I laid the groundwork to get it produced. I started dLite Box in early 2007. Like most passionate, energetic, enthusiastic, but financially challenged, start-up leaders, I soon learned that it wasn’t easy; there’s nothing exciting about a lunch box. I had a lot of doors closed in my face. I had a lot of false starts. Sooner or later, I knew something would have to give. And it did!

Our goal

dLite Box has one simple mission: help people eat better, more balanced meals. Our signature product, Basik box (that comes with the online Basikbox.com service), is not a diet program, but a common-sense approach to eating smarter when you’re on-the-go. The product name Basik box emphasizes how simple it can be to eat good food in the right portions.
